Johnson's Block Special Release

Established in 1925, the Wynns Coonawarra Estate Johnson's Block is a dry grown vineyard in the heart of the terra rossa. The 2004 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Johnson's Block Shiraz Cabernet is a tribute to Johnson's vineyard and the excellent fruit that it produces. The wine is a traditional style, with red fruits and black pepper, framed by fine tannins.

This is very much a modern style wine from a classic old Coonawarra vineyard. The palate is polished and smooth. The Johnson vineyard is known for its intense, cherry like fruit and 2004 is no exception. The concentration of flavour combined with framing acidity results in a wine of freshness and balance. The oak is slightly charry but well integrated, adding support to supple tannins and fruit sweetness.
