Wynns Coonawarra Estate has now moved over to screwcap closure with the exception of the current 2005 vintage release of Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon, which will move over to screwcap for the release of its next vintage, 2006.
A screwcap provides a perfect, inert seal that means every bottle of wine tastes exactly as the winemaker intended. Using this closure removes all possibility of a wine being affected by any of the multitude of cork-related faults, including cork taint and oxidisation, that make wine smell and taste "off" or "corked".
Screwcaps have been used on wines around the world for more than 40 years. The Wynns winemaking team undertook regular blind tastings to assess how the same wine aged under cork versus screwcap. While there was only a negligible difference when the wine was extremely young, as the wine aged the screwcap wine was fresher and more vibrant and had aged more consistently than the same wine under cork.

How long will my Wynns Coonawarra Estate wines keep with a screw cap?
An unopened bottle with a screw cap will keep just as long as a wine closed with a cork or any other closure.
How should I store my Wynns Coonawarra Estate wines?
Wines with a screwcap closure can be stored just like any other bottle with a cork — preferably in a cool, dark place, however with a screw cap you can also store the bottle upright.
Which is closure is better, screw-cap or cork?
Screw-cap eliminates the chance of wine becoming cork-tainted or oxidised, so from a winemaker's perspective, it is far preferable to cork.
