Overview

Overview

The first Wynns blend (then named Cabernet Hermitage) was produced in 1969, allowing Wynns a long history with this traditional Australian-style blend. Merlot was included during the 80s and made it to the label in 1990. Malbec has also been included in small quantities in recent years, adding some vibrancy and plummy notes. To celebrate 60 years of this well-loved Wynns blend, the 2019 vintage has Malbec acknowledged on the label.
The “red-stripe” blend of four red varieties creates a versatile wine suited to many occasions. Soft fruit and judicious oak create a wine that is perfect for current drinking or medium-term cellaring. The Wynns Cabernet Shiraz Merlot Malbec is a well balanced and approachable wine, providing a true reflection of its regionality.

Nose

Rich dark notes of blueberry and black olive. Elegant red cherry and violets complete the bouquet. Hints of spicy oak and mulberry leaf add finesse and layers.

Flavours and Palate

Concentrated blueberry, liquorice and ground coffee flavours give depth, with bright red cherry and boysenberry top notes adding up to a succulent, flowing, moreish whole. Versatile as ever, this classic Wynns blend is equally at home with a chicken parmigiana, nachos or steak & chips.

A cool growing season with late season rain led to fresh and crisp flavours in the white wines, and red fruit and spice notes in the red wines.
