Cabernet Shiraz Merlot 2018

Overview

Overview

The first Wynns blend (then named Cabernet Hermitage) was produced in 1969, allowing Wynns a long history with this traditional Australian-style blend.

The “red-stripe” blend of three red varieties creates a versatile wine suited to many occasions. Soft fruit and judicious oak create a wine that is perfect for current drinking or medium-term cellaring. The Wynns Cabernet Shiraz Merlot is a well-balanced and approachable wine, providing a true reflection of its regionality.

Taste Description

Taste Description

Nose

Rich dark notes of blueberry and black olive. Elegant red cherry and violets complete the bouquet. Hints of spicy oak and mulberry leaf add finesse and layers.

Flavours and Palate

Concentrated blueberry, liquorice and ground coffee flavours give depth, with bright red cherry and boysenberry top notes adding up to a succulent, flowing, moreish whole. Versatile as ever, this classic Wynns blend is equally at home with a chicken parmigiana, nachos or steak & chips.

"Still bright and chirpy and youthful to boot. Bright red and black cherry, a touch bramble, raspberry, blackstrap licorice and measured spice. Fast-paced across the palate with red currant and red berry crunch, merlot florals, grainy tannin. Plenty of tasty drinkability now and in the years ahead."

A cool growing season with late season rain led to fresh and crisp flavours in the white wines, and red fruit and spice notes in the red wines.
