Wynns Coonawarra Estate Riesling was first made in 1962 and has gained a reputation as one of Australia's most consistent and representative expressions of the variety. The purity of Riesling fruit is demonstrated, with clean fresh notes of citrus, white florals and sherbet. Lemon pith and subtle spice notes lend a hint of complexity.
The palate is fresh and open with bright acidity, crunchy granny smith apple flavours, lime, grapefruit, and softer lemon curd notes. Delicate florals are lifted by the powdery natural acidity, providing an elegant structure. As always, an approachable, beautifully balanced Riesling which should appeal to those new to the variety and please its loyal followers alike. Great drinking on its own, or think about a Thai curry or spicy calamari rings.
