V&A Lane Shiraz 2012 Museum Release

Overview

Overview

V&A Lane is a long, straight road that dissects Coonawarra’s famous terra rossa strip at its midpoint. Surveyed in 1851, the lane divides the original electorates of Victoria and Albert, and the area is celebrated for exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz wines.

Note: The tasting note reflects the wine when it was tasted upon its release. It has since evolved and developed further complexity following years of careful bottle maturation in our cellars.
Our winemaking team have recently tasted this wine and confirmed its condition. It is drinking beautifully today showcasing intriguing aged characteristics that can only be derived with the passage of time.

Taste Description

Taste Description

Nose

A freshly baked rhubarb and blueberry pie made with flaky pastry. Blueberry, lifted by elegant dandelion and magnolia florals with hints of scented spice.

Flavours and Palate

A modern wine with a fresh, structural palate. Whole bunch fermentation produces an attractive light structure and subtle hints of spice provide layered complexity. Drawn out by silky tannins and succulent acidity it finishes with a touch of minerality.

James Halliday

"The plethora of words on the front and back labels provide no useful information beyond the fact that the vineyards contributing to the wine have frontage to V&A Lane. This is Coonawarra at its elegant best, silky smooth, juicy, and fragrant red fruits to the fore, fine-grained tannins and subtle oak kept under tight control, allowing the fruit maximum freedom of expression. A forerunner of what will be a very distinguished group of top-end wines coming from Wynns '12 vintage bonanza. 96 Points."

Jeremy Oliver

"A long-term shiraz of style and elegance whose heady, lustrous perfume of violets, redcurrants, blackberries and tight-knit cedary oak reveals undertones of five spice and mint. ItÕs long and fine-grained, with a piercing intensity of pristine fruit all down its supple, dusty spine, finishing fresh but quite savoury with remarkable persistence and balance. 95 Points."
