Overview

Overview

Wynns is the proud custodian of many of the great vineyard sites along Coonawarra’s Terra Rossa strip and each year, we select one vineyard to highlight the individuality of this site.

In 2023, we chose a young planting from the O’Deas 12.81 vineyard, located to the north of the winery. The O’Deas family farmed this land until 1966, before it was later sold and established as vineyard. The Terra Rossa soil here is dark reddish-brown, with moderate depth to limestone and an average elevation of 57.5 metres. The current plantings are vine selections from our highly prized Childs vineyard, established on rootstocks.

Ken Gargett | Wine Pilot | April 2026

This is the annual Wynns’ selection for their Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard was planted after the original estate owned by the O’Dea family was sold in 1966. Time in the glass to open up and time in the cellar to exhibit its best. On the palate, we see notes of plums, tobacco leaves and cassis emerge towards the finish. There is excellent length here, finishing with fine tannins. If you have the willpower, put it away for two to four years and drink it over the next ten to fifteen. 96 Points.

Cyndell Petty | Q Wine Reviews | May 2026

Not wild or showy, just well-made, classic, and will over-deliver with time. 96 Points.

Tony Love | Wine Pilot | May 2026

This wine now stands out for its classic regional black currant and spearmint aromas before delving into a big, full-bodied and complex matrix of Cabernet Sauvignon elements. There’s a decade or two at least hiding in this bottle, the evolution promising even greater discoveries. A canny investment now will repay handsomely. 96 Points.
