Taste Description

Nose

Lifted cranberry, magnolia flower and Danish pastry notes.

Flavours and Palate

Bright cherry and blueberry complements more savoury elements of stalks, pastry, and spice. Cloudlike tannin gives an expansive tone, and guides the pure fruits though to the lingering crushed pepper and cinnamon on the finish. This is an early ripening, early harvested wine. The resulting freshness and brightness with moderate alcohol but many layers of flavour has become a signature of the V&A Lane.

“V&A Lane is an important, historic vineyard but it was only in '08 that Wynns started making two V&A Lane wines, a cabernet shiraz and shiraz. The V&A story is all about fineness, grace and beauty, but there is an underlying power, too. Oozes class from this outstanding vintage with black currants, mulberry, cinnamon, crushed violets and faint notes of the Aussie bush. Medium-powered elegantly style with pure raspberry blueberry cola herb garden flavours, underlying savoury notes and fine sinuous tannins. Finishes minerally, chalky firm and long. Vintage Conditions

2018 is a vintage that shows the quality of shiraz from the best vineyard sites. Wynns 2018 Shiraz is spicy, silky and medium bodied. Winter and Spring rainfall was excellent at 20% above long- term averages, soil moisture was replenished, and limestone aquifers recharged. Warm Summer temperatures advanced early ripening by two weeks. However, a strong coastal upwelling cooled March, and extended the ripening period so that picking was around long- term average. The Cool finish was ideal for acid retention and freshness.
