Overview

Overview

V&A Lane sits along our famed Terra Rossa strip’s patchwork of vineyards. Surveyed in 1851, this long, straight road once marked the district boundary between the historical electorates of Victoria and Albert, today it lends its name to one of our most distinctive Shiraz expressions. The mature Shiraz vineyards that line V&A Lane ripen early and are among the first picked each season, producing wines of modern appeal – fresh and spicy, yet retaining the succulent, silky palate structure that defines Shiraz. V&A Lane Shiraz was created to showcase a contrasting style from one of our most beloved grape varieties.

An intentionally early harvest highlights a vibrant red fruit spectrum, supported by naturally lower alcohol, whole-bunch inclusion, wild ferments and maturation in larger-format oak. Together, these techniques shape a wine of freshness, energy and food-friendly appeal, one that can proudly take its place on the world stage.

Taste Description

Taste Description

Nose

On V&A Lane, the mature Shiraz vines ripen early, making them the first red grapes harvested for Wynns each season. The resulting wine has a modern appeal, with a fresh and spicy taste, yet still maintaining the succulent silky palate structure of a classic Shiraz. It has aromatics of boysenberry, lifted by elegant dandelion and magnolia florals with hints of scented spice.

Flavours and Palate

Vibrant and lively red fruits burst from the glass with a subtle raspberry and cherry stone infusion. Exquisitely structured with fine precise tannins and super-fine oak harnessing and focussing through to an exceptionally long finish. This wine has the satisfying zest and energy of a cool-climate style.

Tony Love | Wine Pilot | May 2026

"This Shiraz comes at you from a very different angle, a celebration of cool climate region viticulture and winemaking that highlights the variety in its red fruit, spicy, minerally and pithy style, quite floral to begin with red apple and cherry-like fruit suggestions, juicy and lithe. Arguably the Wynns wine that surprises the most in its modernity and confirms why such a traditional label keeps on keeping on with so much positive energy in its wines." 96 Points.

Ray Jordan | Wine Pilot | May 2026

"This is a wine that’s been designed to highlight a somewhat different aspect of Coonawarra Shiraz. Picked slightly earlier for a lighter body, it lifts with florals on the nose. The palate is vibrant—cherry, raspberry and a touch of spice, with fine, linear tannins. The oak, which is all older French puncheons, is harmoniously integrated. It’s a wine that sits comfortably in the medium-term cellaring zone. Most appealing wine." 95 Points.
